Project Overview

Travel Salem is a Destination Marketing and Management Organization (DMMO) dedicated to promoting Salem, Oregon, as a premier travel and event destination. As Graphic Designer and Online Coordinator, I collaborated closely with the Marketing and Communications team to produce strategic print and digital materials, strengthen brand consistency, and improve the organization’s online presence.

My work spanned multi-year planning documents, annual reports, marketing collateral, and web initiatives, supporting Travel Salem’s goals of stakeholder engagement, tourism growth, and expanded regional visibility — including the launch of Travel Salem Sports to position Salem as the sports capital of Oregon.

Strategic Plan & Annual Report

To support organizational planning, transparency, and stakeholder communication, I designed long-form publications that balanced clarity, visual hierarchy, and brand alignment:

  • 2020–25 Strategic Plan — Designed a comprehensive multi-year strategic document that clearly communicates Travel Salem’s long-term vision, goals, and priorities. The layout emphasizes readability and structure through strong typography, color-coded sections, and visual pacing to guide readers through complex planning content.
  • 2019–20 Annual Report — Developed a polished annual report highlighting organizational achievements, key metrics, and financial summaries. Visual elements such as charts, callouts, and photography were used to translate data into an accessible, engaging narrative for stakeholders and partners.

Marketing Collateral

To promote Travel Salem’s programs, events, and membership offerings, I designed marketing materials that align with brand standards while remaining flexible for diverse audiences.

  • 2020–2021 Events Flyer — Designed a visually engaging flyer to promote seasonal and annual events, balancing bold imagery with clear informational hierarchy. The layout was optimized for both print distribution and digital sharing.
  • Membership Program Flyer — Developed a promotional flyer outlining the benefits of Travel Salem’s membership program. The design highlights value propositions, partnership opportunities, and key benefits in a concise, visually appealing format to encourage enrollment and engagement.

Web & Digital Communications

In addition to print and marketing assets, I supported Travel Salem’s digital initiatives to improve usability, reach, and consistency across platforms.
  • Developed e-newsletter templates to streamline communications and maintain brand cohesion
  • Designed custom web pages aligned with ongoing campaigns and initiatives
  • Enhanced website SEO and site navigation to improve discoverability and user experience
  • Assisted in launching Travel Salem Sports, helping establish a dedicated presence to promote Salem as a regional hub for sporting events
