Rogerson Clematis Garden needed a cohesive set of exhibit panels to educate visitors about the garden’s unique and diverse clematis collection. I aimed to create signage that felt integrated with the natural environment while delivering clear, accessible information for guests of all knowledge levels.
Introduction panels and garden signage are supported by an illustrated map, balancing educational content with an organic visual language. By combining digital illustration with traditional watercolor textures, the signage complements the garden’s atmosphere, clearly guiding visitors through the space and adding visual harmony.
The exhibit signage system includes two introductory panels and eleven garden signs designed to orient visitors, communicate botanical information, and enhance the educational experience, harmonizing with the natural beauty of the flowers and surroundings.
An illustrated map serves as the foundation of the system, using color-coded sections to help visitors easily identify clematis varieties and navigate the garden. Subtle watercolor textures, carefully masked photos, and color fades both enhance and soften the visual presentation, creating a tactile, organic feel that reflects the quality of the environment.
The typography and layout were carefully structured to prioritize readability and hierarchy, ensuring key information is easy to navigate, resulting in signage that blends seamlessly into the garden while supporting education, exploration, and engagement through thoughtful visual design.
Every project tells a story — see how I help clients transform their ideas into successful designs that truly work.
